Phuket Town is the administrative and cultural centre in the east, with no beach of its own. Its highlight is the Old Town with Sino-Portuguese architecture, cafés and street art; on Sundays the Walking Street opens. Here too are the Central and Limelight malls, government offices and most services.

Routes and airport
From Phuket Town it's easy to reach anywhere on the island: west to Patong over the hill road, south to Chalong and Rawai, north to the airport. The airport (HKT) is about 35–40 minutes (some 32 km) away via the straight route 402. The town is a handy base if you want to be near services and drive out to the beaches.

Amazing Service. Rented Toyota Veloz for 7 days costed us approx 12000 baht including full coverage insurance. Picked up and dropped off at the airport. Car was brand new deep red color with around 100km on the odometer. Pickup and drop off process was quick and smooth. We were skeptic about renting car in phuket as we heard that there are scams where renters charge extra money from tourists when they return the car but that was not the case with this company, did not even charge 1 extra baht from us. Also the car had tinted windshields and windows to protect from the scorching sun. Loved the experience a lot. Will definitely use their service next time we are in Thailand and would also recommend to anybody travelling to Thailand.
