Mileage is unlimited within Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi, so trips to neighbouring beaches and the south of the island need no extra charge for kilometres.
Karon: quieter than Patong
Karon is a long, wide beach with white 'squeaky' sand, just south of Patong. It's calmer and more spacious than its neighbour, good for families. Nearby is the Karon Viewpoint overlooking three beaches — Kata Noi, Kata and Karon. Hotels range from boutique to large resorts along Patak Road.
Delivery, parking and return
Delivery and return in Karon — ฿600 during office hours (08:30–19:30), a surcharge may apply outside them. Parking is easier than in Patong: there are spaces along the beach road and by larger hotels, though in high season it pays to arrive early.
Routes and airport
From Karon it's 5–10 minutes to Kata, 15–20 to Patong, and further south to Rawai and Promthep Cape. The airport is about 50 minutes (some 40 km) away. The coastal road is scenic but climbs and turns — allow extra time at rush hour.

Amazing Service. Rented Toyota Veloz for 7 days costed us approx 12000 baht including full coverage insurance. Picked up and dropped off at the airport. Car was brand new deep red color with around 100km on the odometer. Pickup and drop off process was quick and smooth. We were skeptic about renting car in phuket as we heard that there are scams where renters charge extra money from tourists when they return the car but that was not the case with this company, did not even charge 1 extra baht from us. Also the car had tinted windshields and windows to protect from the scorching sun. Loved the experience a lot. Will definitely use their service next time we are in Thailand and would also recommend to anybody travelling to Thailand.
